The Opportunity :

Does the prospect of leading a safety department across multiple sites, in a growing organization excite you? Do you have experience working within manufacturing? Monday to Friday 8 : 00 am – 4 : 30 pm (flexible as required), Hybrid

In this role you will :

  • Lead a team of safety professionals, providing direction, establishing individual and team objectives, and supporting professional development.
  • Develop and implement safety strategies; learning about the organization, building relationships, gathering, and analyzing data to ensure plans align with business objectives.
  • Work in a complex manufacturing environment that allows you to build on your 10 plus years of progressive safety experience in a position of influence where your expertise is highly valued.
  • Lead the development of a forward-thinking safety culture by building and executing a strategic vision that drives safety excellence across manufacturing operations.
  • Develop safety programs, resources, and campaigns to ensure that the company meets and exceeds all applicable safety regulations and standards.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including WorkSafe BC, other regulators, medical providers, adjusters, investigators, and safety partners across Canada, US and Australia.
  • Build engagement and enthusiasm, maximizing the value of health and safety committees, participating in safety initiatives and gaining buy-in from department heads and employees.

You have :

  • A bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Post secondary qualification in business management or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a safety leadership role.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing or leading a team.
  • Experience in a manufacturing industry or similar environment.
  • Experience navigating and influencing within complex matrix organizational structures to drive cross functional alignment and results.
  • Professional certification such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge of safety regulations and standards in Canada, the US, and Australia.
  • Working knowledge of provincial Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations, Worker’s Compensation Act and Worker’s Compensation Claims Management.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead a geographically dispersed team.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to occasionally travel to other locations as required.
