Job summary

Manulife is seeking a Director of GWAM Business Risk Management to lead the RCSA program and partner with business leaders to strengthen operational risk controls across Global Wealth and Asset Management. The role emphasizes governance, control testing, and issue remediation within a first-line risk management framework.

You will guide process owners, oversee testing, and provide training to promote accountability and a strong risk culture across GWAM.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in Operational Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Controls, Audit, Compliance, or a related discipline within a financial services organization.
• Significant experience executing and facilitating Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs).
• Strong understanding of operational risk management frameworks, risk and control standards, and control testing methodologies.
• Experience maintaining risk and control inventories and business process hierarchies in governance, risk, and compliance platforms such as Archer.
• Strong knowledge of Wealth Management and/or Asset Management businesses and risks.
• Proven ability to influence and challenge business stakeholders while maintaining collaboration.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to explain risk concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Support the ongoing execution and enhancement of the GWAM Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Program.
• Facilitate inherent risk assessments to identify key operational risks.
• Lead and coordinate RCSAs including risk identification, control evaluation, and remediation development.
• Maintain and govern Archer hierarchies and risk/control inventories.
• Design and execute testing programs to assess control effectiveness.
• Monitor remediation activities from testing, audits, and regulatory reviews.
• Support attestations by process owners on control effectiveness.
• Provide guidance and training on Operational Risk Management standards and methodologies.
• Assist leaders in identifying emerging risks and control gaps.
• Produce risk reports and dashboards for governance committees and senior management.
• Collaborate with GWAM businesses to ensure consistent risk management execution.
• Support regulatory examinations and internal audits relating to operational risk.
