In this role, you will lead strategic operational initiatives and business transformation across banking, payments, and foreign exchange, improving financial performance, operational effectiveness, customer experience, and risk management. You will report to the SVP, Global Payment Operations, and regularly collaborate with payment operations management across all geographies, treasury, FX trading, product, technology, risk, compliance, and senior leadership.

How We Work

As a Director, Payments & Banking Strategic Projects, Corpay will set you up for success by providing:

  • Assigned workspace in the Toronto office
  • Company-issued equipment
  • Role-specific training and onboarding resources, as applicable
Role Responsibilities
  • Lead and ensure the timely delivery of strategic operational initiatives across banking, payments, and foreign exchange (FX), meeting or exceeding established project milestones, performance metrics, financial objectives, and business outcomes.
  • Drive business transformation and operational change across banking, payments, and FX functions, ensuring effective project execution, governance, milestone tracking, and stage-gate approvals.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to support the implementation and adoption of new banking capabilities, payment solutions, FX products, processes, and technologies.
  • Conduct comprehensive business and financial analyses across banking, payment processing, and FX operations, leveraging data collection, performance metrics, and market intelligence to identify trends, operational inefficiencies, revenue opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop executive-level presentations, business cases, and performance reporting to communicate strategic initiatives, project milestones, financial impacts, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Generate actionable insights through customer service interviews, competitive and market research, subject matter expert consultations, focus groups, and surveys to inform banking, payments, and FX product strategies and business decisions.
  • Lead data-driven initiatives to optimize end-to-end banking and payment operations, improve FX transaction processes, enhance customer experience, and increase operational efficiency through disciplined process improvement methodologies and voice-of-the-customer insights.
  • Evaluate and quantify the financial and operational impact of strategic initiatives, including revenue growth, FX profitability, transaction volumes, processing costs, productivity improvements, customer experience, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify and assess operational, financial, regulatory, and compliance risks associated with banking, payments, and FX activities, ensuring adherence to established governance frameworks, internal controls, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership, banking partners, payment operations, treasury, FX trading and product teams, technology, risk, and compliance stakeholders to drive alignment, influence strategic decisions, and support successful execution of business priorities.
Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in banking, payments, foreign exchange (FX), financial services operations, or client-facing financial services functions, with demonstrated responsibility for improving business performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Strong understanding of banking operations, payment processing, cross-border payments, FX transactions, and the operational processes that support the movement of funds.
  • Proven ability to identify operational challenges, troubleshoot business issues, implement practical solutions, and ensure processes and services operate effectively from end to end.
  • Demonstrated experience improving business operations, including transaction processing, service delivery, operational controls, customer experience, and financial performance.
  • Experience leading business transformation, process improvements, and operational change initiatives within banking, payments, or FX environments, with an emphasis on sustainable business outcomes rather than project administration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to assess complex operational issues, interpret financial and performance data, identify root causes, and recommend actionable solutions.
  • Experience working across banking, treasury, payment operations, FX, product, risk, compliance, and client management functions to resolve issues and improve business performance.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams, challenge existing processes, and drive accountability for operational improvements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate complex business issues and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of business challenges, independently drive solutions, and follow through to ensure improvements are implemented, adopted, and delivering the intended results.
  • Strategic and innovative thinker with a hands‑on, results‑oriented approach and the ability to balance long‑term business objectives with immediate operational priorities.
