Job summary

The Mason Group is partnering with a growing consumer goods and retail organization to recruit a Director, Financial Reporting & Controllership in Toronto, Canada. Reporting to the VP, Finance, you will own financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls and compliance, while developing scalable processes to support growth and expansion.

CPA with 8+ years of progressive accounting experience is required, with strong ASPE knowledge and multi-entity experience; cross-border tax

Qualifications

• CPA designation with approx. 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Proven experience leading a financial reporting or controllership function.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly ASPE.
• Experience in complex, multi-entity environments.
• Strong understanding of Canadian tax requirements; cross-border exposure is a plus.
• Experience with ERP systems, financial process improvements and internal controls.
• Hands-on, commercially minded leader in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and close processes per ASPE.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll and GL.
• Strengthen internal controls, policies and reporting processes.
• Manage external reviews, audits and tax compliance requirements.
• Drive automation and optimization of financial systems (NetSuite).
• Partner with senior leadership on reporting, initiatives and growth.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team.

We are partnering with a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial organization in the consumer goods and retail sector to recruit a Director, Financial Reporting & Controllership.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance leader to join a dynamic, multi-channel business during a significant period of growth and transformation.

Reporting to the VP, Finance, the successful candidate will take ownership of financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls and compliance, while playing a key role in developing scalable financial processes to support continued business expansion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and close processes in accordance with ASPE.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll accounting and general ledger management.
• Strengthen internal controls, financial policies and reporting processes.
• Manage external financial reviews, audits and tax compliance requirements.
• Drive process improvements, automation and optimization of financial systems, including NetSuite.
• Partner with senior leadership on financial reporting, strategic initiatives and future business growth.
• Lead, mentor and develop a growing finance team.

About You

• CPA designation with approximately 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Proven experience leading a financial reporting or controllership function.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly ASPE.
• Experience working within complex, multi-entity environments.
• Strong understanding of Canadian tax requirements, with exposure to U.S. or cross-border taxation considered an asset.
• Experience with ERP systems, financial process improvements and internal controls.
• A hands-on, commercially minded leader who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
