Job summary

St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH) seeks a Director, Finance to provide strategic leadership and stewardship of financial functions in alignment with STEGH's mission and values.

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in finance, accounting, business operations, or related functions, including a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic financial leadership and support organizational decision-making through financial analysis, planning, forecasting, and performance measurement.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, risk management, and financial stewardship principles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational change, continuous improvement initiatives, and operational optimization.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships and collaborate with leaders, physicians, staff, external partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario healthcare sector, including applicable legislation, regulations, and funding methodologies, is considered an asset.

The Director, Finance provides strategic leadership and oversight of assigned corporate and business service functions, applying broad financial and business expertise to advance organizational priorities. The role supports the achievement of operational and strategic objectives through leadership, guidance, and decision support, in alignment with STEGH's mission, vision, and values.

The Director, Finance fosters a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Through strategic leadership, planning, performance measurement, and the use of data-driven insights, the Director supports informed decision-making, operational excellence, and the effective stewardship of organizational resources. Working collaboratively with leaders across the organization, the Director identifies opportunities to enhance business processes, strengthen organizational performance, and advance STEGH's strategic priorities.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in finance, accounting, business operations, or related functions, including experience in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic financial leadership and support organizational decision-making through financial analysis, planning, forecasting, and performance measurement.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, risk management, and financial stewardship principles.

  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and communicate effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, presentation, and influence skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Experience working in a Lean environment; Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to values-based leadership, emotional intelligence, and continuous learning.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario healthcare sector, including applicable legislation, regulations, and funding methodologies, is considered an asset.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance in accordance with the Attendance Support Program.
  • Acceptable performance record aligned with STEGH's values and Code of Conduct.
HOURS

The successful candidate will work Monday - Friday (37.5 hours weekly) with a willingness to adjust their schedule to meet the needs of the Hospital. This position is also required to participate in the leadership on-call rotation.
