Job summary

Collingwood General and Marine Hospital in Collingwood, Ontario, seeks a Director, Patient Services & Professional Practice to lead Emergency, ICU, Respiratory Therapy, Inpatient Services, Rehabilitation, Quality and Professional Practice. Qualifications

  • RN in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BScN) required.
  • Minimum 5 years of applicable clinical experience in an acute care setting.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive quality improvement and program initiatives.
  • Proven ability to influence from a people centered lens with an education focus, data informed decision making to drive strategic priorities.
  • Evidence of a relationship builder leading to effective relationships with physicians, frontline staff, and the leadership team.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful change management.
  • A desire to mentor and support the leaders with an emphasis on just culture, growth and continuous learning.
  • Masters Degree in related field and Certified Healthcare Executive preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and set the priorities for patient services including expanding existing services and programs and meeting or exceeding wait time targets.
  • Support the establishment and delivery on clinical priorities such as the Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Join our Senior Leadership Team to set directions and annual priorities, including Directors Den and Hospital Development Steering Committee involvement.
  • Support Regional Partnerships and relationship building to enhance effective care.
  • Review and determine effective models of care that are financially sustainable while maintaining quality care.
  • In collaboration with partners, ensure that all core leadership responsibilities are completed including financial oversight, contract management and performance coaching.

Detailed Job Description

In this key leadership role, you will provide oversight for the Emergency Department, Level 2 Intensive Care Unit, Respiratory Therapy, Inpatient Medical and Surgical Services, Rehabilitation, Quality, and Professional Practice. You will lead high-performing teams, foster clinical excellence, and ensure the delivery of safe, patient-centred care.

As we continue to advance our ambitious strategic plan, this is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of healthcare in our community. Working closely with physicians, leaders, and staff across the organization, you will drive key initiatives that enhance quality, strengthen professional practice, and support exceptional patient experience.

With Accreditation 2027 on the horizon and establishing priorities together for 2026/2027, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. A key deliverable in the coming year will be the development and implementation of a Professional Practice Model.

This role joins a senior leadership team that is engaged in not only supporting today’s patient care and teams but is planning for Tomorrow’s Hospital.

As the successful applicant you will do the following as the Director:

  1. Collaborate and set the priorities for patient services including expanding existing services and programs and meeting or exceeding wait time targets

  3. You will join our Senior Leadership Team to set directions and annual priorities. This will include being involved in hearing ideas at Directors Den, supporting operations and effective delivery of care, and joining the Hospital Development Steering Committee
  4. Support Regional Partnerships and relationship building to enhance effective care
  5. Review and determine effective models of care that are financially sustainable while maintaining quality care
  6. In collaboration with partners, ensure that all core leadership responsibilities are successfully completed including engagement with financial oversight, contract management and performance coaching and management
Required
What You’ll Bring
  • A Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BScN) required
  • Minimum 5 years of applicable clinical experience in an acute care setting
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated ability to drive quality improvement and program initiatives
  • Proven ability to influence from a people centered lens with an education focus, data informed decision making to drive strategic priorities
  • Evidence of a relationship builder leading to effective relationships with physicians, frontline staff, and the leadership team
  • Demonstrated experience in successful change management
