Job summary

CPP Investments is seeking a Director of Data Scouting in Toronto to lead strategy, governance, and commercial management of its external data portfolio. You will partner with investment teams and enterprise stakeholders to optimize data sourcing, vendor relationships, and value creation.

You will coach a team of data professionals, drive transparency and cost discipline, and align investments with CPP Investments' long-term mandate and performance goals.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent in business, finance, information management, or a related field.
• Experience leading market data, vendor management, or strategic sourcing in a large organization.
• Proven success negotiating high‑value contracts and managing supplier relationships.
• Strong commercial judgment with cost optimization and vendor performance experience.
• Understanding vendor licensing models and market data landscapes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategy for CPP Investments external data portfolio.
• Provide strategic advice on external data sourcing, vendor capabilities, and commercial models.
• Lead evaluation, negotiation, and management of third‑party data contracts.
• Build and manage relationships with external data providers to maximize value.
• Identify opportunities to optimize external data spend and drive cost discipline.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing data team.
• Influence senior stakeholders and drive governance and standardization across data initiatives.
