Job description

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As Director, Digital Security Credential & Data Intelligence, you will own the credential lifecycle for RBC's digital clients (creation, recovery, rotation, retirement), plus the intelligence layer underneath it: device telemetry, behavioural biometrics, and trusted device recognition. These are the capabilities that let us drop friction for clients who are exactly who they say they are and stop those who aren't.

You will lead a portfolio of squads and partner deeply with Technology, Fraud Management, Cyber Security, Legal & Privacy, and every line of business that touches a login screen. You will also take on change management plans, to ensure that changes that you’re making are well supported across the organization. You'll be accountable for both the security outcome and the client experience outcome and for proving, with data, that you moved both in the right direction.

This role will report to the Senior Director, Digital Trust, this is a builder's mandate on a platform with national scale. The decisions you make show up in the hands of millions of Canadians.

What will you do?

Own the multi-year product roadmap for credential management, device intelligence, behavioural biometrics, and trusted devices for RBC's digital channels. Lead and coach multiple agile squads (Product Owners, and their partnered engineering and design teams), setting outcome-based OKRs and holding the bar on delivery quality and pace

Drive measurable outcomes across a deliberately competing set of metrics.

Partner with Fraud Management and Cyber Security to close the loop between detection, authentication, and response, and to make sure our controls hold up against evolving account take overs, social engineering and security vulnerabilities.

Manage business relationships with suppliers enabling your products, including contract negotiations, and supplier performance monitoring.

Represent the capability to executives, risk, digital partners; translate deep technical control detail into a clear business narrative. Contribute to the broader Digital Trust strategy and influence enterprise standards for identity assurance and authentication

What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
  • 8+ years of progressive experience across product management, digital, or security
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at the intersection of business and technology, you can hold a roadmap conversation with an executive in the morning and an architecture debate with engineers in the afternoon
  • Proven people leadership: you've led product teams or squads and built talent, not just shipped features
  • Hands-on understanding of authentication and identity technologies (MFA, passkeys/FIDO2, OAuth 2.0/OIDC, session and credential lifecycle management, device fingerprinting, behavioural biometrics)
  • Strong analytical rigour: you set metrics, instrument them, and change direction when the data says to
  • Executive-grade communication and influence; comfort presenting to and being challenged by senior leaders
  • Track record of delivering in a large, regulated, matrixed organization without letting the matrix slow you down
Nice-to-have
  • Financial services, payments, or other high‑assurance industry experience
  • Familiarity with NIST SP 800-63 (IAL/AAL), FIDO Alliance specifications, PCI DSS, or equivalent assurance frameworks
  • Experience with vendor platforms in the device intelligence, or behavioral biometrics space
  • Exposure to fraud strategy, risk‑based authentication engines, or real‑time decisioning
  • MBA or equivalent graduate‑level business education
  • Bilingualism (English and French)
What's in it for you?
  • We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.
  • A mandate with real scope: a portfolio of squads, a multi‑year roadmap, and executive visibility from day one
  • The chance to contribute to one of the most consequential shifts in digital banking, the move beyond passwords
  • Leaders who invest in your development and a clear path to broader Digital Trust and Digital Banking leadership
