Descripción del empleo

Tacteris builds Canadian defence software for military planning, command and decision support. Our flagship platform, Maestro, supports all-domain operational planning across land, air, maritime, space and cyber. Our product suite also includes Forte, for strategic logistics, deployment and sustainment.

We work directly with the Canadian Armed Forces, defence partners, NATO and Allied customers. Our team combines defence experience with deep expertise in software engineering, AI/ML and military operations.

The Role

As Director, Defence Engagement – Ottawa, your objective is to expand Tacteris's presence, relationships and business across the Canadian defence ecosystem. You will be Tacteris's senior presence in the National Capital Region and a principal customer-facing representative of the company. You will develop opportunities for new deployments, build relationships across CAF formations, DND and relevant Government of Canada organizations, engage defence primes and industry partners, and ensure Tacteris is actively represented in the Ottawa defence community.

This is an active business-development and engagement role. You will be expected to know the customer environment, understand where Tacteris can contribute, create opportunities, and move them toward concrete outcomes.

What You'll Do
  • Drive new Tacteris deployments across DND/CAF, identifying organizations, formations and programs where our software can solve real operational problems.
  • Build and deepen relationships across CAF formations, DND and Government of Canada organizations, defence primes, integrators and industry partners.
  • Create and advance business opportunities through briefings, demonstrations, evaluations, trials, partnerships and sustained customer engagement.
  • Be an active presence in the Ottawa defence ecosystem, participating in relevant customer briefings, capability discussions, industry forums, conferences, trade shows, association events and partner engagements.
  • Identify emerging requirements, programs, RFIs, RFPs and customer needs relevant to Tacteris and help position the company to respond.
  • Grow existing accounts, identifying opportunities to expand deployments, introduce additional Tacteris capabilities and extend adoption across organizations and formations.
  • Develop relationships with defence primes and integrators, identifying opportunities for partnership, integration and joint pursuits.
  • Maintain close engagement with existing customers, ensuring momentum and continuity between major meetings, procurements and deployments.
  • Develop strong knowledge of Tacteris products and customer use cases and represent the company substantively with military, government and industry audiences.
  • Bring the right Tacteris personnel into engagements when executive, product or technical expertise is required, and maintain momentum through disciplined follow-through.

Travel within Canada and internationally will be required.

What Success Looks Like

Success means:

  • new DND/CAF organizations evaluating and deploying Tacteris software;
  • expansion within existing customers and formations;
  • a growing pipeline of credible opportunities;
  • stronger relationships across DND/CAF, Government of Canada and Canadian defence industry;
  • productive relationships with primes, integrators and strategic partners;
  • earlier awareness of relevant programs, requirements and customer activity;
  • increased customer briefings, demonstrations, evaluations and trials; and
  • Tacteris becoming a consistent, credible and highly visible participant in the Ottawa defence ecosystem.
What You Bring

Required:

  • Significant and credible experience within the Canadian defence environment.
  • Deep understanding of DND/CAF organizations, culture and the broader Canadian defence ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior and working-level stakeholders.
  • Evidence that you can create and advance opportunities, not simply maintain a network.
  • Exceptional judgement, integrity and discretion.
  • Strong communication, briefing and presentation skills.
  • Commercial instinct, initiative and disciplined follow-through.
  • Ability to represent Tacteris independently and to a very high professional standard.
  • Aptitude and commitment to understand Tacteris products and their military applications in depth.
  • Residence in or near the National Capital Region.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Government of Canada security clearances required for the position.
  • Eligibility to engage in federal lobbying activities on behalf of Tacteris in compliance with the Lobbying Act, the Lobbyists' Code of Conduct, and any applicable post-employment restrictions.
  • Willingness to travel within Canada and internationally.
Strong Assets
  • Previous CAF service.
  • Graduation from a recognized command and staff college.
  • Significant headquarters, command or staff experience, preferably in operational settings.
  • A demonstrated record of achievement and increasing responsibility.
  • Recent and relevant experience within the Ottawa defence community.
  • Defence business-development, capability-development or procurement experience.
  • Strong relationships across DND/CAF, Government of Canada and Canadian defence industry.
  • Experience working with defence primes, integrators or technology companies.
  • Experience with military planning, C4ISR, command and control, or defence software.
  • Current Government of Canada security clearance.
  • Bilingualism in English and French.
The Person We're Looking For

We are looking for a high-performing defence professional who combines credibility, intellect, integrity, energy and commercial judgement.

An existing network is valuable, but the ability to create new relationships, recognize opportunities and turn engagement into concrete activity matters more.

This is not a ceremonial post-career position. We are looking for someone with the ambition and initiative to materially expand Tacteris's presence, customer engagement and business within Canadian defence.

Why Join Tacteris
  • Represent a growing Canadian defence technology company
  • Work directly with DND/CAF, Government of Canada, defence industry and Allied customers
  • Help expand the adoption of Canadian-developed defence software

Tacteris Systems Inc. is an equal opportunity employer. Veterans, reservists and transitioning CAF members are encouraged to apply.
