Job description

Our client is an entrepreneurial, growing commercial mortgage brokerage based in Vancouver, working on complex, bespoke financings across asset classes. The firm is built around deep relationships, disciplined execution, and institutional-quality standards—without institutional bureaucracy.

The firm is seeking a Director-level professional to own end-to-end deal execution and the operating cadence of their brokerage platform. This role is central to how the firm runs.

The Opportunity

This role ensures transactions move seamlessly from mandate to close through rigorous diligence, disciplined underwriting, lender coordination, and standardized execution processes. You will act as the execution lead across the platform—allowing the Principal to focus on origination, senior relationships, and negotiations, while you ensure deals close cleanly, efficiently, and consistently.

This is a hands‑on, in‑office leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of credit judgment, process design, and execution management.

Compensation for this role is between $140,000 to $160,000.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deal Execution & Credit Leadership
    • Oversee financial modeling, underwriting assumptions, and preparation of deal memorandums
    • Ensure consistency in risk evaluation across asset classes and transaction types
    • Review and approve underwriting packages prior to external distribution
    • Constructively challenge assumptions and surface risks early in the process
  • Platform & Operating Cadence
    • Design, implement, and enforce standardized execution playbooks (onboarding, checklists, internal cadence)
    • Own pipeline tracking and workflow management (CRM / Excel)
    • Build and maintain simple, effective reporting on pipeline health, execution velocity, and bottlenecks
    • Leverage data, automation, and tools to improve throughput, accuracy, and visibility across the deal lifecycle
  • Team Leadership & Coordination
    • Lead and mentor a team of two analysts
    • Set internal deadlines, quality standards, and documentation expectations
    • Prepare concise decision memos to enable rapid Principal approvals
    • Train and coach team members on standardized execution processes and best practices
  • Complex & Challenged Transactions
    • Support execution on delayed, restructured, or complex transactions by coordinating revised diligence, documentation, and lender communications in partnership with the Principal
    • Ensure disciplined follow‑through as deal terms evolve
  • Documentation, Data & Institutional Memory
    • Maintain clean file structures and documentation standards (SharePoint)
    • Ensure audit‑ready documentation and permission discipline
    • Maintain deal and relationship databases, including lender preferences, contacts, and transaction notes
    • Ensure diligence materials, legal documentation, and third‑party reports are archived to support rapid retrieval, lender follow‑ups, and repeat transactions
Ideal Background
  • Senior execution, underwriting, or credit role in commercial mortgages, real estate finance, private credit, investment banking, or structured finance
    • Strong credit judgment and comfort challenging assumptions
    • Experience managing multiple transactions concurrently with tight deadlines
    • Process‑oriented mindset with the ability to build structure without over‑engineering
    • Comfortable leading execution while remaining hands‑on
    • Entrepreneurial orientation—comfortable in a fast‑moving, high‑accountability environment
Why This Role
  • Director-level ownership with real influence over how the platform operates
    • Exposure to complex, relationship‑driven commercial financings
    • Opportunity to help shape a growing brokerage’s execution infrastructure
    • Tight‑knit, senior team with a strong reputation and ambitious growth plans
