What you’ll be doing

The Director, Content Design, AI & Innovation will lead a team of Senior Managers and Senior Learning Consultants within Learning & Development. You will set the strategic direction for enterprise learning design and transform how the team works, equipping Senior Consultants to adopt modern, agile and collaborative ways of designing and developing learning. You will oversee the development and ongoing management of learning solutions and maintain active content in the Learning & Development library. A key focus is advancing design innovation and responsibly integrating AI, data and automation across content strategy, design, development, quality assurance and continuous improvement. You will champion human-centred, inclusive and accessible standards; create safe opportunities to test, learn and scale new approaches; and help employees apply new capabilities and become job-ready faster. This role will ensure that learning content and the end-to-end learner experience embody our client-focused purpose. You will partner across Content Creation to manage team and project capacity, leveraging applicable planning tools (CRM/Cognata), AI-enabled workflows, data and automation to improve quality, speed and efficiency. Working with Advisory and Program Management colleagues, business partners, SMEs, technology, risk and governance partners, you will redesign processes, establish appropriate guardrails and build change readiness. You will identify high-value opportunities, convert curiosity into disciplined pilots, and move successful innovations from experimentation to sustainable enterprise adoption. At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You can effectively perform all work activities in a hybrid arrangement, and will be required to be on-site on core days (1-2 days per week).

How you’ll succeed

Excellent relationship building skills sufficient to establish relationships with key business partners as well as internally with Learning & Development colleagues Excellent project management skills with ability to multi-task several initiatives/strategies simultaneously Strong transformation leadership and people management skills to lead a high-performing team through new ways of working, coach Senior Consultants in modern learning design and development practices, and sustain effective cross-functional relationships amid competing priorities and rising expectations Strong strategic thinking and design innovation leadership to evolve Content Creation, anticipate emerging learning needs, and translate new methods, operating practices and technologies into scalable solutions aligned with the TalDev strategy Demonstrated AI, data and automation fluency, with the ability to discover high-value opportunities, build evidence-based business cases, guide responsible experimentation, apply privacy, risk, accessibility and quality considerations, and scale AI-enabled design and development practices Proven experience applying ADDIE and the Successive Approximation Model (SAM) to digital learning, selecting the right model for the business need and using analysis, prototyping, iterative design, development and evaluation to deliver accessible, inclusive and impactful experiences Strong data-informed decision making and financial acumen to define measures of success, assess learner and business impact, evaluate costs and benefits, monitor AI-enabled solutions, and prioritize the innovation portfolio based on evidence, strategic value and responsible investment Strong influencing and negotiating skills sufficient to shape thinking and decisions while responding to underlying concerns or multiple interests where others need to be persuaded to accept compromise solutions Strong change management, process design and advisory skills to diagnose complex business problems, redesign end-to-end workflows, mobilize stakeholders, manage adoption and turn emerging opportunities into executable solutions Strong project discipline and execution skills to manage capacity planning, forecasting, process performance and associated data dashboards for Content Creation, with clear ownership, milestones and measurable outcomes Excellent communications skills- effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviours, tools and techniques.
