Global Team Overview:

The Corporate Finance team within BMO Commercial Bank, Canada, part of BMO Financial group, covers large public and private corporate clients across diversified industries such as real estate, auto dealership finance, and others. The team evaluates financing opportunities of $10MM or more, on syndicated and bilateral bases, offering solutions including senior, subordinated, mezzanine debt, and equity. The selected candidate will join the Financial Services Group (“FSG”), part of the Specialty Segments, focusing on banking relationships within the Financial Services sector, including senior debt financing with non-regulated lenders or long-term lessors, and full banking relationships in specific financial subsectors. The Financial Services Group is based in Toronto with national coverage.

Job Overview:

The Director will be responsible for senior secured loan origination and account management within the FSG team, overseeing a growing portfolio of clients with complex credit structures and cash management needs. Responsibilities include making approval recommendations, collaborating with Corporate Finance to serve and grow client relationships, and managing existing client portfolios.

Job Description:

  • Manage risks associated with the complex portfolio efficiently.
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients regarding product information, pricing, and implementation.
  • Manage the annual review process, interim reviews, quarterly reports, and resolve exceptions.
  • Assist in pre-sales activities such as pitch preparation, client research, and prospect/client file preparation.
  • Ensure seamless sales and service administration and identify opportunities.
  • Gather data for sales processes and complete documentation.
  • Track implementation requests to adhere to timelines.
  • Review internal reports and recommend improvements to sales support materials.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Keep client information current in the bank system.
  • Apply expertise and creativity to address unique or ambiguous situations and solve complex problems.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Typically, 7+ years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional designations like CPA, CBV, CFA are assets.
  • If applicable, possess credit qualifications per established standards.
  • Knowledge of industry verticals and market environment.
  • Experience in negotiations with clients and legal counsel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Expertise in Relationship Management, Collaboration, Communication, Financial Analysis, and Risk Management.

Salary: $84,000.00 - $156,000.00
