What You’ll Be Doing

This position is an ideal choice for experienced candidates with developed business credit management skills, a depth of experience in working with commercial banking clients and a passion for working in a client-centric environment that aligns to a strong performance culture. As a Director, Commercial Banking (Individual Contributor), you will join CIBC to manage and grow a portfolio of commercial banking clients by proactively developing new business opportunities in the community and ensuring clients’ day-to-day banking needs are being met at the highest level.Your role will not be just to be a banker — you will be a banking partner, a true champion for our clients’ businesses, who will be committed to delivering on flexible business solutions, dedicated business expertise and timely business advice to help our clients realize their goals.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Business Development – Lead business development activities with prospective and key CIBC clients and represent CIBC in the business community to ensure relationships are developed, solidified and fostered.
  • Relationship Building – Impacting your community, and show clients they’re appreciated by engaging in marketing and outreach activities. Develop new client relationships through your business development activist leveraging referral sources, existing clients and centers of influence.
  • Credit Management – Structure, negotiate and document credit and cash management arrangements with clients and prospects that meet client needs.
  • Client Focus - Create an environment which fosters an exceptional service culture, supports partnering behavior and capitalizes on individuals’ expertise to provide “best in class” service and overall relationship management to our clients.
  • Collaborate -Connect clients with opportunities. Develop a profile in the local business community in order to leverage that profile into effective working relationships with new and existing clients and internal partners.

Who You Are

  • You have experience in commercial banking, proven business development skills, advanced knowledge of risk and credit portfolio management, and highly developed negotiating skills. You have demonstrated selling skills including an ability to identify financial advisory opportunities with clients. You have a demonstrated ability to identify and address deteriorating credit issues.
  • You put our clients first. You have well-developed client and relationship management skills. You engage with purpose to find the right solutions.
  • You have an established profile in the local business community. You have knowledge of a diverse marketplace and the needs of medium-sized businesses.
  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
