Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years in management consulting, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven ability to lead consulting teams and deliver client projects.
  • Strong knowledge of business environment and SMEs.
  • Bilingual French/English required.
  • Some travel will be required for regional team management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a regional team of in-house business advisors, providing guidance and mentoring to ensure high performance.
  • Foster a culture of learning, operational rigor, and career development.
  • Manage delivery resources (expertise, capacity, advisors, consultants) to meet regional needs.
  • Oversee roster of regional delivery consultants (recruitment, onboarding, performance).
  • Manage delivery pace and health of portfolio; mitigate risks to ensure on-time, within-scope delivery.
  • Collaborate with Regional VP and Business Development Managers to drive growth and client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with Delivery Directors in other regions to standardize best practices.
  • Align delivery team with client, BD, and internal workflows to meet expectations.
  • Determine non-revenue activities aligned with strategy and market needs.
  • Stay informed on market trends and client needs in the region.
  • Work with Head of Expertise and Solutions Development to allocate capacity for solution development.
  • Encourage cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain regular field presence by joining client meetings and events.
  • Build relationships with external organizations to enhance BDC’s value proposition.

Position Overview

The Director, Client Delivery, Advisory Services, plays a central role in leading a regional team of experts (such as business advisors) dedicated to providing high-impact management consulting services to our SME clients. This individual will have a proven track record in consulting, strong leadership skills, and the ability to foster the success of both clients and employees within their team.

This position requires someone with strong strategic thinking skills who can effectively manage in-house business advisors. The Director will provide “on-the-ground” coaching, support, and mentoring to business advisors; ensure the effective delivery of projects; understand our clients’ evolving needs; and ensure the availability and coordination of expertise to maximize impact. The incumbent will foster relationships throughout the region and the organization and contribute to the growth and development of our Advisory Services (AS) practice.

THE CHALLENGES TO BE MET
The Delivery Director Will Be Responsible For
  • Leading a regional team of in-house business advisors, providing guidance, feedback, support, and mentoring to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Fostering a culture of learning and professional development, operational rigor, skill-building opportunities, and support for career advancement.
  • Managing the delivery resources (expertise and capacity, business advisors, and delivery consultants) necessary to meet the region’s needs.
  • In collaboration with the consultant network management team, overseeing the roster of delivery consultants in the region (recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and work quality).
  • Manage the delivery pace and the health of the portfolio of ongoing projects. Proactively manage risks that could affect project success or client satisfaction. Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and meet the quality standards expected by our clients.
  • Work closely with the Regional VP and Business Development Managers to develop and implement strategies for business growth, client satisfaction, and the effectiveness of our consulting services.
  • Collaborate with Delivery Directors in other regions to ensure that standards and best practices are implemented across all Consulting Services.
  • Ensure that the delivery team is aligned and continuously optimizes our end-to-end workflows so that the client, business development, business advisor, and external network are optimized to meet client expectations.
  • In coordination with the Regional Vice President and business development leads, determine which value-added, non-revenue-generating activities are being carried out in the market in line with the approved strategy.
  • Stay up to date on evolving business trends, market conditions, and client needs in the region.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Expertise and the Solutions Development Team to allocate expertise capacity toward the development and improvement of solutions.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and the development of the delivery team by engaging the team in projects, knowledge sharing, and professional development.
  • Maintain a regular and active presence in the field by joining your team at client meetings and participating in client and community events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with other organizations to complement BDC’s value proposition of helping Canadian SMEs grow and become more competitive.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field; an MBA or similar professional designation is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in management consulting, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven ability to successfully lead consulting teams and deliver client projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of the business environment and its key challenges, as well as experience working with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is required.
  • Some travel will be required as part of managing a regional team.
