Job summary

ENGIE North America in Canada seeks a Business Development & Commercial Director to accelerate growth across Canada. You will shape markets, build strategic partnerships, create new business lines, and position Tractebel as a trusted partner for energy and infrastructure programs.

You should know the Canadian energy sector, especially nuclear and hydropower, excel at relationship building, and convert opportunities into sustainable growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in a similar function, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of complex project environments in energy, nuclear, hydropower, transmission, or major infrastructure.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of French is a strong asset.
  • Proven experience in business development, commercial leadership, partnerships, or strategic growth in engineering, energy, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.

  • Identify, qualify, and develop strategic business opportunities in Canada, leveraging international expertise and partnerships.
  • Lead the commercial strategy for major pursuits from early positioning to proposal submission and contract negotiation.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients, utilities, developers, public stakeholders, engineering partners, and industrial players.
  • Develop market intelligence, competitor analysis, client mapping, and commercial action plans.
  • Contribute to pricing strategy, contractual positioning, and commercial risk assessment.
  • Coordinate with global business areas to bring the best expertise to Canadian clients.
  • Support the Managing Director in shaping Tractebel Canada’s growth strategy and long-term market positioning.
  • Support executive-level client engagement and represent Tractebel in key industry forums.

Essential Job Functions

What You’ll Bring
  • You will possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent.
  • You will have a Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in a similar function, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • You have a strong understanding of complex project environments, in energy, nuclear, hydropower, transmission, or major infrastructure.
  • You will be fluent in English Knowledge of French is a strong asset.

  • Flexible in your time schedule (cross‑time‑zone Client engagement).

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
  • Must be available to travel domestically frequently with the possibility of some international travel for meetings or training.
  • Must possess a valid Canadian license/clean driving record

Compensation

Salary Range: $168,000.00– $ 257,945.00 CAD annually

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
