Job summary

Questbank, part of Questrade Financial Group, seeks a Director, Banking (Product) to lead the evolution and distribution of core banking products via APIs and scalable architecture. You will own the roadmap for deposits, payment rails, and regulatory capabilities, ensuring alignment with wealth platforms and Experience teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of product management experience with 4+ years in backend infra or core banking.
• Expertise in financial data modeling and payment networks (SWIFT, ACH/EFT, real‑time rails).
• Advanced understanding of double‑entry accounting, RESTful API design and microservices architecture.
• Proven ability to drive roadmaps and documentation for technical teams and executives.

Responsibilities

• Define a multi‑year roadmap for core banking capabilities and regulatory reporting infra.
• Own API definitions and documentation for internal and external banking APIs with a developer‑first approach.
• Drive accountability for product balance sheet and commercial health of banking products.

We're looking for our next Director, Banking (Product). Could It Be You?

As the Director of Banking (Product) at Questbank, you will lead the strategic evolution and distribution of Questbank's Consumer and Commercial Banking products (Deposit Accounts, Debit Cards, and other Money Movement access devices) via APIs and other technical distribution channels.

Your focus is on core banking systems and API-driven scalability, separate from the front-end digital user experiences. Your goal is to build a high-performance, modular suite of banking capabilities (deposits, payment rails, clearing) that seamlessly interface with QFG's wealth platforms and allow our Product Experience teams to build fluid, rapid customer applications, while establishing strong business accountability for the financial health of these products.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Core Banking Capability Strategy: Define and execute a multi-year roadmap for core banking capabilities, including high-scale transaction processing, multi-currency ledger management, core deposits, and regulatory reporting infrastructure.

API & Modular Architecture: Own the definitions, technical requirements, and documentation for internal and external banking APIs, ensuring a developer-first approach that enables external partners and internal Experience teams to build on your platform seamlessly.

Product Balance Sheet Accountability: Drive accountability for the product balance sheet and commercial health of your assigned banking products, shifting the role toward a comprehensive business and product leader.

Internal Alignment & Collaboration: Act as the critical upstream partner to the Head of Product Experience. Ensure your capability roadmap proactively supports their customer-facing features, providing them with the structural tools they need to execute front-end workflows.

Scale, Resilience & Compliance: Ensure all core banking engines operate with 99.99% uptime, strictly comply with regional financial regulations, and are scalable to support rapid volume growth.

Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and evolve a technical team of Product Managers focused on infrastructure, backend capability engineering, and product commercial success.

Have 8+ years' experience in product management, with at least 4+ years explicitly focused on backend infrastructure, platform engineering, or core banking engines in the Canadian financial ecosystem.

Have extensive expertise in financial data modeling, payment networks (SWIFT, ACH/EFT, Real-Time Rails), and major core banking platforms such as Mambu or Thought Machine.

Have advanced understanding of double-entry accounting, security standards, RESTful API design, and microservices-based banking architecture.

Have demonstrated success partnering with Engineering Directors and Compliance officers to develop resilient and scalable enterprise financial systems.

Have the ability to synthesize intricate system logic into actionable roadmaps and clear documentation for both technical teams and executive-level stakeholders.
