Job summary

Sherweb seeks a Director of Software Engineering & Innovation to lead a large engineering organization and shape the next generation of software delivery. You will guide ~80 people through five managers, driving delivery, execution, engineering excellence, and leadership development in an AI-enabled world.

You will champion modern practices like Team Topologies, platform thinking, agentic coding, and AI-assisted development, aligning technical execution with business outcomes across functions.

Qualifications

• Senior engineering leader with scale experience (50+ people) and multiple managers reporting.
• Proven ability to coach managers, raise leadership maturity, and develop succession capacity.
• Strong experience delivering complex modern software products/platforms (multi-tenant SaaS, API-centric, cloud-based).
• Experience modernizing engineering practices: CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, observability, DevOps, security.

Responsibilities

• Set and communicate a clear operating plan aligning department objectives with business strategy.
• Lead and coach a team of managers overseeing software development teams and platform capabilities.
• Drive execution across initiatives balancing customer outcomes, product priorities, architecture, reliability, and security.
• Introduce and scale AI-enabled workflows and Spec-Driven Development within the SDLC.
