Role Overview

Reporting to the Senior Director, Acquisitions & Business Development, the Director of Acquisitions at Shoppers Drug Mart is responsible for the strategic planning and daily operations related to acquisitions. The role involves providing guidance to teams across real estate, finance, legal, and other departments to develop sound processes, controls, and audit procedures aimed at expanding strategic acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist in maintaining a pipeline of acquisition opportunities.
2. Facilitate the purchase process for strategic opportunities.
3. Report on transaction performance to internal stakeholders.
4. Analyze data related to acquisitions and divestitures, assessing their fit within Shoppers.
5. Collaborate with M&A, operations, and other teams to enhance value and make strategic recommendations.
6. Prepare analyses for reporting and post-deal review.
7. Monitor acquisition outcomes and integrate findings into strategic planning.
8. Participate in due diligence and provide detailed analyses of potential stores.
9. Identify and implement process improvements for acquired stores.
10. Support onboarding and transition activities post-acquisition.
11. Develop and improve tools used in acquisition processes.
12. Mentor and review work of team members and field representatives.

Qualifications

1. Degree in business, economics, healthcare, pharmacy, or related; advanced degree preferred.
2. Project Management experience (PMP preferred).
3. 10+ years in strategy or business development within large, fast-paced organizations, preferably in healthcare or retail pharmacy.
4. Proven ability to add value through strategic initiatives.
5. Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
6. Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
7. Experience in negotiations and managing contracts.
8. Advanced skills in MS Office Suite.
9. Willingness to travel as needed.
