Job summary

Karis Disability Services seeks a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. You will help with daily living, promote rights, and support personal growth through individualized plans.

The role requires access to transportation and may involve flexible schedules, with career development and tuition reimbursement options. On-site, part-time opportunities in the St. Thomas area are available.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 12 months experience in direct support or related field.
• Experience with Behaviour Support Plans and CPI techniques preferred.
• Post-secondary education in related field or DSW/CYW certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist people with daily living in home and community settings.
• Support individuals to exercise rights and direct their life.
• Implement and follow individualized support plans to promote growth and independence.

DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL
Direct Support Professional (DSP) employees work with people who experience developmental disabilities as they live in their homes and communities. This position assists people in their daily life, working with them and their connections to ensure that they can live fully in the community. Direct Support Professionals recognize people's rights to direct their life, understanding that each person has unique gifts and needs, and they support people to learn skills for their own growth and development.

Requirements:

• Access to reliable transportation

Preferred:

• 12 Months Experience
• Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Worker, or post-secondary education in a related field
• Experience with working with Behaviour Support Plans and CPI techniques.
• Experience supporting people living within a Supported Independent Living model.
