Job summary

Karis Disability Services is seeking a Direct Support Professional for a temporary part-time two-month role in Barrie, Ontario. You will work with people who have developmental disabilities in their homes and communities, ensuring they can live fully in the community and achieve personal growth.

The position includes evening shifts, alternating weekends, and 21 hours per week, with hourly wages between CAD 25.18 and CAD 29.46. The opportunity closes on November 2, 2026.

Qualifications

• G license required.
• 3-6 months experience (volunteer or employment).
• Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Worker, or related post-secondary education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist people with developmental disabilities in daily living at home and in the community.
• Support people's rights to direct their life and foster personal growth and development.
• Help individuals learn skills for independence and community participation.

Direct Support Professional

Direct Support Professional (DSP) employees work with people who experience developmental disabilities as they live in their homes and communities. This position assists people in their daily life, working with them and their connections to ensure that they can live fully in the community. Direct Support Professionals recognize people's rights to direct their life, understanding that each person has unique gifts and needs, and they support people to learn skills for their own growth and development.
