Job summary

Shannex Incorporated in Ancaster, Ontario, is seeking a Dining Room Coordinator to lead the dining service for residents and special events. You will direct daily dining room operations, assign tasks, train staff, and support catering needs to ensure high-quality, compassionate care.

The role requires supervisory experience in hospitality or health care foodservice, strong food safety knowledge, and a customer-service mindset focused on resident satisfaction and safety.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED.
• Proof of Basic Food Safety Training or Food Handler’s certificate is required.
• Proof of valid Smart Serve Certification is required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in the food & beverage service industry.
• Criminal Record Check (and Vulnerable Sector Check where applicable) prior to appointment.
• Supervisory experience in hospitality or health care foodservice is preferred.
• Experience using POS software and other essential computer programs is an asset.
• Experience with the elderly in long-term care or senior living is an asset.
• Extensive knowledge of food safety practices and meal service etiquette.

Responsibilities

• Lead dining room staff activities to ensure professional service for residents daily and for special events.
• Outline work assignments and supervise the team.
• Orient and train new team members on departmental standards.
• Assist with recruitment, orientation, training, and coaching.
• Coordinate catering for internal and external events and manage meal/beverage charges.
• Maintain menus, diet slips and count sheets; assist with inventory.
• Ensure safety and sanitation standards in dining areas and compliance with policies.
