Job summary

Array is seeking experienced Digital Court Reporters for independent contract work in Canada. You will capture and monitor legal proceedings using advanced digital recording technology to produce accurate transcripts and reliable records.

Job Description Summary

We are seeking experienced Digital Court Reporters for independent contract work. In this role, you will capture and monitor legal proceedings using advanced digital recording technology. Candidates with less than two years of digital court reporting experience will be required to complete our Digital Court Reporter Training Program. Additional training on our software and equipment will be provided, and candidates must successfully complete proficiency assessments before accepting assignments.

Responsibilities

Recording and monitoring legal proceedings, including examinations for discovery, arbitrations, hearings, and other legal events.

Monitoring audio quality throughout proceedings to ensure a clear and accurate record.

Maintaining detailed notes and annotations during proceedings.

Working professionally with lawyers, adjudicators, judges, clients, and other legal professionals.

Maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.

Independent Contractor Opportunity

Digital Court Reporters provide services as independent contractors and have flexibility in determining their availability for assignments. Assignment opportunities and earnings are generally influenced by the level of availability provided. Assignments may be conducted remotely or onsite and typically occur Monday through Friday during standard business hours, with additional opportunities available outside those hours. While preference will be given to candidates who are available for both onsite and remote assignments, we welcome applications from candidates interested in remote assignments only. Digital Court Reporters who demonstrate exceptional performance may also be considered for additional opportunities, including transcription services and other related work.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have two or more years of digital court reporting, court reporting, legal support, or related experience. However, candidates with transferable skills and a demonstrated ability to succeed in the role are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will possess:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent listening and concentration skills
  • Strong written communication skills, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Strong reading comprehension and information-processing skills
  • Proficient keyboarding and computer skills
  • Professional demeanor and presentation
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in fast-paced or high-pressure situations
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and reliably
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and/or French
