Job Description Summary
The Digital Control Systems Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and developing project technical resources to support the project managers' team during project execution. She/he defines, plans, and implements the delivery model for SCADA, Substation Automation, Substation Networks, and Integrated Energy Management Solutions engineering, along with associated site services activities, in close collaboration with Project Management, Protection & Control, and Packaged Solutions Engineering teams. She/he manages an engineering team and ensures the availability of skilled resources.
Job Description
Main Head of Engineering tasks include:
- Manage engineering team, define team strategy, setup, and Key Performance Indicators.
- Maintain high standards in project engineering, efficiency, and on-time delivery as per EMH rules.
- Track and manage resource utilization in conjunction with the Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure efficiency and ability to meet demand.
- Develop Substation Automation Services offerings to contribute to GA service and solutions growth.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Deliver engineering projects on time, within budget, and with the highest quality standards.
- Analyze and utilize our automation portfolio options including DS Agile, IEMS, G500, GPG, D20, etc.
- Coach engineering team and develop individual and team skills.
- Work closely with the tendering team to support tender estimations and post-delivery project feedback.
- Ensure resource optimization and adequate support to customer projects.
- Develop and qualify external resource contractors to augment skillsets and manage peak loads.
- Interface with customers (internal and external) for key projects and technical issue resolution.
- Ensure full utilization of defined Product Line engineering tools and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Define engineering and delivery model strategy for Substation Automation, IEMS, and site services activities.
- Develop and manage Installed Base data to identify opportunities with the Commercial team.
- Support interface with central operations and engineering teams for technical priority management.
- Contribute to Customer Complaints resolution.
- Lead EHS/Safety actions and ensure compliance with GE rules and processes; ensure engineering teams are trained and qualified.
- Follow GE Vernova compliance policies and promote open reporting.
- Act as chief operating officer in compliance with engineering regulatory bodies (e.g., APEGA).
- Support Commercial team by sharing experience and optimizing engineering costs and deliveries.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor of Engineering degree from an accredited university or college.
- Engineering and Business knowledge, with mandatory experience in Automation activities.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in Electricity and Automation engineering.
- Knowledge of Electricity Transmission, Distribution, and Industrial markets.
- Understanding of network communication protocols including Modbus, OPC (DA, AE, UA), DNP3, IEC61850, etc.
- Knowledge of cyber asset protection regulations such as NERC CIP, NIST.
- Ability to manage and motivate an engineering team.
- Autonomy and Rigor.
- Fluency in English.
- Willingness to travel up to 30%.
