University of Guelph is seeking a Marketing & Communications Specialist to execute digital campaigns across social media and web platforms. You will craft written and visual content, manage updates, and support recruitment initiatives for LANG’s programs.

The role requires strong writing, video production skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to build the LANG brand and reach wide audiences. Some evenings/weekends may be required.

Qualifications

  • Three year college graduation or university degree in Marketing/Communications.
  • Experience creating, posting and measuring engaging social content including paid ads.
  • Strong writing for internal and external audiences.
  • Video production and editing proficiency considered an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Familiar with AODA and CASL guidelines.
  • Proficient with Google Analytics and social platforms; familiarity with Falcon.io, Drupal, Content Hub, Maestro.
  • Experience with Drupal and Content Hub is an asset.

General Purpose

Reporting to the Manager, Marketing & Communications, the Specialist will be responsible for the execution of digital marketing and communications content, including social media, written content and multimedia management (web, photography, video) for marketing and communications initiatives to support strategic priorities of the LANG School.

The successful candidate will plan, create, deliver and evaluate all aspects of digital communications, including social media campaigns and website maintenance and updates (including new webpage builds as needed). The position will support various recruitment initiatives across the undergraduate, graduate and professional programs portfolio and will support the brand building campaigns of the LANG School. The candidate will collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders and have a passion for producing exceptional written and video social media and editorial content that engages a wide variety of audiences.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, create, execute, and evaluate social, and web content marketing and communications campaigns.
  • Develop and implement social media strategies to guide content marketing and communication needs for LANG’s overall recruitment and external relations goals.
  • Write and create content for key communications initiatives including web profiles, news features, newsletters, videos, scripts/speaking points, and reports as required.
  • Monitor and report on metrics for web, social, and digital media initiatives.
  • Provide training, support, and oversight of the co-op student (or team) as it pertains to web, digital strategies.
  • Participate in various events as they relate to recruitment, outreach, and brand building.
  • Leverage graphic design and video editing software to create engaging and creative digital content that drives engagement within LANG’s target audiences.
  • Assist in the planning and promoting of School wide events.
  • Other duties as assigned. Some evenings and weekend work may be required.

Requirements:

  • Three year community college graduation (University degree preferred), with a focus in Marketing, Communications, Digital Marketing and/or Media Studies, along with three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience creating, posting and measuring engaging social media content, including paid targeted advertising.
  • An experienced writer, with strong verbal and written communications skills and demonstrated experience writing highly engaging content for internal and external audiences.
  • Video production experience and proficiency in video editing software considered an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments, possess sound judgment, and troubleshoot problems with a strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Well-versed in AODA accessibility standards as well as Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation [CASL].
  • Intermediate to advanced use of current digital management tools including Google Analytics, social media platforms, Falcon.io, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, Drupal, Content Hub, email management systems (Maestro), Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with content management systems, (Drupal and Content Hub) considered an asset.
