Job summary

The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) is seeking a Communications Assistant to support the amplification of First Nations voices in Manitoba through digital content creation and coordination across AMC platforms. You will contribute to community-driven storytelling, digital engagement, and advocacy aligned with First Nations priorities.

You will work with the Communications team to ensure timely, culturally respectful messaging across Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and TikTok, while

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, PR, Digital Media, or related field.
• Minimum two years of related experience in communications, media, or social media content creation.
• Experience creating and managing content across social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok).
• Strong knowledge of First Nations cultures, communities, and contemporary issues.

Responsibilities

• Monitor communications emails and calendar invites; manage scheduling conflicts.
• Create, schedule, and publish content across AMC social media platforms.
• Monitor online engagement and respond to messages and comments professionally.
• Support development of a monthly organizational newsletter.
• Assist with content development including graphics, short-form videos, and promotional materials using Canva, Photoshop, or similar tools.
• Research and write social media posts and digital content highlighting AMC initiatives and advocacy.
• Track and report social media analytics; provide insights to support growth strategies.
• Assist with event promotion including live social media coverage and post-event content.
• Collaborate with Communications team to ensure consistent branding and tone.
• Maintain an organized digital asset library of photos, videos, and approved content.
• Stay current with social media trends and best practices.
• Perform additional communications and administrative responsibilities as required.
