Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition and completion of an internship or practicum accredited by the Dietitians of Canada.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).

Job description

This is an opportunity for you to become part of a dynamic South Alberta nutrition team with Alberta Health Services, as a Dietitian I based in Brooks, Alberta. Brooks is a growing city in southeast Alberta, surrounded by the County of Newell. It is located on Highway 1 and with a population of over 14,500 and growing, Brooks is the major urban centre between Calgary and Medicine Hat and the second largest community in southeastern Alberta. Brooks is a very uniqueand beautiful place to live. Nicknamed The City of 100 Hellos, Brooks is a multi-cultural, diverse community including inhabitants from numerous heritages and backgrounds. The semi-arid climate sees little snow and often enjoys chinook winds. As a Dietitian I reporting to the Manager Nutrition Services, South Zone you would be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans for clients in acute care, long term careand adult and pediatric outpatients in the community of Brooks and for long term care residents in Bassano. This position offers a variety of experiences in a rural setting, and you will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in Brooks Health Center and Bassano Health Center as well as with Nutrition Services Dietitians across Southern Alberta. You may also facilitate virtual and face to face group nutrition and weight management sessions, using nutrition counselling forbehaviour change as appropriate to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition.Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada.Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year experience as a dietitian. Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). Experience with nutrition counselling for behaviour change. Experience in nutrition counselling for weight management. Demonstrated experience in group facilitation. Knowledge and experience with virtual health applications for client care and group facilitation (Zoom, MS Teams, telephone).
