Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. Continuous quality and safety improvements are inherent in this position.

Under the supervision of the Director or designate, the Dietitian provides nutrition services to clients/patients referred to the Bariatric Clinic. Responsibilities include client/patient selection, collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, providing consultation and education to healthcare professionals and clients, and delivering nutrition counseling, teaching, and follow-up based on best practices in bariatric nutritional care. The dietitian works closely with the team to ensure continuity of care, communicates client progress, and may need to travel between sites, using a personal vehicle if required.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in dietetics/nutrition from a recognized university
• Completion of an accredited dietetic internship
• Current licensure with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Dietitian
• Knowledge of bariatric surgical procedures, behavior change, and weight management models
• At least 2 years recent related experience in clinical and outpatient settings, including program development, education, and research involvement, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Valid BC Driver's License
