Job Type: Contract

Our client is looking to bring on a Registered Dietitian for one of their care facilities located in SE Calgary. This is a 6 month maternity leave contract with the possibility of extension or permanent employment, depending on the needs of the business.

This person must be adaptable and have incredible interpersonal skills to work with various stake holders, pivoting their approach to educate and accommodate various levels of dietary understanding.

The ideal candidate will be committed to consistently upholding the highest standard of care. Required is patience, excellent communication skills, active listening with a warm and positive demeanour, all while balancing resident care, customer service and juggling competing tasks in a calm and effective manor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The key job functions are:

• Creating personalized food service programs (nutritional assessments/care plans and counselling, therapeutic diets, education, etc.) for residents while abiding by the professional standards of practice
• Completing InterRai MDS assessment elements when requiredand evaluating of RAPS triggers and development of resident care plan in adherence with the Collaborative Care Model
• Ensuring the Food Services Department is up to standard (quality/productivity), adhering to health and safety responsibilities and reporting any violations
• Facilitating in-service education programs for Food Service Staff and attending committees/meetings when needed
• Remaining up to date on community resources and new developments in the food service industry/geriatric nutrition
• Other duties as required

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and the completion of an approved dietetic internship
• Registered Dietitian with current membership in the Canadian Dietetic Association and Alberta Registered Dietitians Association

Qualifications:

• Successfully complete a criminal background check
• Successfully complete a vulnerable sector check
• Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
• Proficiency with MS Office and online meeting platforms (MS teams, zoom, etc.)

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Dietetics, preferably within a long term care facility

• Excellent communication (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills
• Adaptable, flexible, and able to function effectively autonomously as well as in a team environment
• Proactive, able to solve problems before they arise

Base Salary:$40.80 per hour

Work Hours:

• Full time and or part time hours available, preference will be given to those seeking full time (40 hours per week)

Remote Work:

• This position is not remote and required to be on-site.
