St. Michael’s Health Group in Edmonton, AB is seeking a friendly Dietary Attendant to join our Food Services team. This casual role covers resident meal service, kitchen prep and help with trays, salads, desserts and daily cleaning.

Must have prior experience delivering meals to residents and assisting a cook, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work all shifts. A High School diploma is an asset; English language proficiency is required; Ukrainian or other Slavic language skills

  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Promote clear communication with residents, families and staff.
  • Report any unusual incidents in Food Services area.

We are currently recruiting for a caring and dedicated Dietary Attendant to join our team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for Resident and staff meal service, including preparation, portioning, serving & cleaning.
  • Follows work assignments for Food Service staff.
  • Opening of kitchen and prep of kitchen equipment
  • Preparation of salads and salad bars; fruit, cheese and meat trays; sandwiches; desserts and dessert trays
  • Preparation of minced and pureed meals
  • Preparation of potatoes and vegetables of kitchen use
  • Preparation of belt-line for tray up of meals; preparing trays for meal service
  • Preparing and filling coffee and tea pots of meal service
  • Service of meals in the main dining room
  • Loading and delivery of food caddies and steam-tables to various pods and dining rooms
  • Returning caddies to kitchen from pods; stripping and cleaning of caddies
  • Delivery of dirty dishes to dishwashing area; assisting the dishwasher with dishwashing
  • Cleaning of kitchen area, steam-tables, food carts and caddies; special cleaning projects
  • Sweeping and mopping the kitchen; taking out the garbage
  • Putting away food orders and items
  • Closing down of kitchen and main dining room area
  • Reports any unusual incidents in the Food Services area.
  • Promotes and maintains appropriate and effective communication with Residents, Food Service staff, staff of other departments, Residents' families, volunteers and visitors.
  • Ensures that equipment, procedures and activities are conducive to a safe environment for Residents, staff, volunteers and visitors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have previous experience in resident meal delivery.
  • Must have experience assisting a cook.
  • A High School diploma is an asset.
  • A friendly disposition and good interpersonal and communication skills are required.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of the English language is required and knowledge of the Ukrainian of other Slavic languages is an asset.
  • Individual must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

ALL SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES MUST HAVE PRIOR TO START DATE:

  • A current and clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check that has been obtained no more than 180 calendar days prior to the hire date.
  • A tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date.
  • Completion of all Hepatitis B vaccines.
