Job summary

Extendicare Athabasca Home in Athabasca, Alberta, is seeking a part-time Dietary Aide to join our culinary team. You will assist with plating and serving meals, and help clean serving areas and equipment while following established policies and standards.

You’ll support cooks with basic food preparation, observe dietary needs, and help with storage and labeling of supplies. This role may include breakfast cook responsibilities with corresponding wages.

Responsibilities

• Serves food to residents according to individual diets and preferences. Maintains foods at proper serving temperature.
• Assists Cooks to clean and prepare simple foods such as salads, vegetables, and fruits.
• Cleans pots, pans, and cooking utensils as per procedure; loads dishwasher after meals.
• Participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.
• Adheres to departmental policies, procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, environment, and infection control.
• Assembles nourishment carts and stocks unit kitchenettes.
• Attends facility meetings and in-service education programs.

This position is for our Extendicare Athabasca Home, located in Athabasca, Alberta.

What you’ll be doing

• Serves food to residents according to individual diets and preferences. Observes time limits for meal serving. Maintains foods at proper serving temperature.
• Assists Cooks to clean and prepare such uncooked food as salads, vegetables, and fruits. Follow basic instructions in preparing such simple foods as breakfast items, basic desserts, and garnishes.
• Clears plates and trays, loads, and operates dishwasher. Cleans pots, pans, and cooking utensils as per procedure.
• Participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.
• Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, environment, and infection control.
• Assemble nourishment carts. Stocks unit kitchenettes.
• Participates in facility meetings as assigned. Attends in-service education programs.
• this position includes breakfast cook & lead cook responsibilities with accompanying wages
