Job summary

St. Angela's Meadow Care Centre in Chatham, ON is seeking a part-time Dietary Aide to ensure smooth meal service and safe food handling.

Reporting to the Culinary Manager, you will assist with meal preparation, presentation, and adherence to health and safety standards in a long-term care setting. Ideal candidates have or are pursuing a Food Service Worker program, with experience in healthcare or related fields, and a willingness to learn and follow instructions.

Qualifications

• Completion or enrollment in an Ontario Food Service Worker program.
• Experience in institutional, healthcare, restaurant or hospitality settings is an asset.
• Valid Safe Food Handler certificate preferred.
• Experience in Long-Term Care is an asset.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth operation of food services and adhere to regulations governing preparation, serving and sanitation.
• Operate and clean kitchen equipment as required.
• Contribute to meal presentation and offer menu suggestions based on resident preferences.
• Collaborate with the care team, volunteers and students.
• Efficiently manage supplies and comply with health and safety policies.

Meadow Park Chatham now known as St. Angela\'s Meadow Care Centre is a fully accredited long term care home in Chatham, Ontario and serves 160 residents. Chatham is the urban centre of Chatham-Kent, a large municipality in Southwestern Ontario located between Windsor (approximately 80 km to the west) and London (approximately 115 km to the east). It is known for its fertile farmland, a diverse economy of manufacturing and agriculture, and rich history, including its role in the Underground Railroad.

Reporting to the Culinary Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of food services. Duties include adhering to all regulations governing food preparation, serving, and sanitation, which encompasses the operation and cleaning of kitchen equipment. The role also requires contributing to meal presentation and offering menu suggestions based on resident preferences. Collaboration with the entire care team, volunteers, and students is essential. The successful candidate must manage supplies efficiently and strictly comply with all relevant health and safety policies and legislation.

We are looking for the following qualifications and traits

• Have successfully completed or are enrolled in a Food Service Worker program at a established under the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Act, 2002 or a Food Service Worker program provided by a registered private career college and approved by the Superintendent of private career colleges under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005 as required under the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021 ss. 79 and Ontario Regulation 84/22 (1) preferred.
• Appropriate food service experience, skills and knowledge in fields of institutional, health care, restaurant or hospitality setting is an asset.
• A valid Safe Food Handler’s Certificate preferred.
• Experience in a Long-Term Care setting is an asset.
• Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
