Responsibilities

• Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
• Manage portion control of food items.
• Follow safety precautions, report unsafe incidents or equipment issues, and adhere to safety procedures.
• Operate equipment safely, document temperatures, and follow HACCP guidelines.
• Deliver catering within the hospital, including handling dishes and cleaning.
• Maintain proper food temperatures and assist cooks with food prep.
• Clear plates, load dishwashers, and clean utensils and equipment.
• Assist with storage, labeling, and inventory of food and supplies.
• Participate in cleaning, sanitation, and setting up for catering events.
• Adhere to departmental policies on quality, safety, and infection control.
• Participate in meetings and training as required.

Requirements

• Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act requirements.
• Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health.
• Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to do moderate to heavy lifting and stand for long periods.
• Current VPS within 6 months.
• Experience in a kitchen or food service setting.
