Dietary Aide, Food & Nutrition Services - Southwest Centre for Forensic Mental Health Care

Location: Southwest Centre for Forensic Mental Health Care, St. Thomas, ON
Employment Type: Part Time
Salary Range: $26.85 - $27.05 /hour

We are an integrated team that provides food and nutrition services to our patients and residents at all sites of St. Joseph's Health Care London. Our vision is to provide nutrition care that nourishes patients and residents, body, mind, and spirit. We support our patients, community, and the planet driven by our menu components, which include the patient voice, clinical requirements, budget, operations, and sustainability. This is accomplished through our goals of increasing local purchasing, growing fresh vegetables on-site seasonally, composting, and decreasing food waste. Our departments operate within varying shifts from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, seven days a week.

It is understood that the hours of work reflect the current scheduling arrangements and are subject to change as determined by the Employer.

Essential Qualifications
  • Secondary (High) School Diploma
  • Safe Food Handlers certification, or successful completion of certification within six (6) months of hire
  • Knowledge of institutional food service and therapeutic diets
  • Knowledge of safe food handling
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Health and physical condition consistent with constant bending, standing, walking, or lifting up to 28 kg.
  • Strong customer service commitment
  • Ability to work in a busy environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work as a team player
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in French would be an asset
  • Previous food service experience
Teaching and Research

St Joseph's Health Care London, through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College, is a leading research and teaching hospital. As an employee of St Joseph's, you will be expected to engage in role-related teaching and research activities in addition to any of your clinical duties.

Immunization Requirements
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19, and influenza.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing.
