Job summary

Extendicare in Canada is seeking a part-time dietary aide to serve meals to residents according to individual diets and preferences, assist cooks with simple food preparation, and support dishwashing and stocking duties across our long-term care homes. You will participate in safety and infection control practices, attend facility meetings, and contribute to a respectful, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in food service or dietary aide roles preferred.
• Ability to assist cooks with basic prep and food handling.
• Knowledge of safety, infection control, and sanitation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Serves food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
• Assists cooks with basic food preparation (salads, vegetables, fruits, simple items).
• Clears plates, operates dishwasher, cleans utensils and equipment.
• Assembles nourishment carts and stocks unit kitchenettes.
• Participates in facility meetings and in-service education.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

• Assists Cooks to clean and prepare such uncooked food as salads, vegetables and fruits. Follows basic instructions in preparing such simple foods as breakfast items, basic desserts and garnishes.
• Clears plates and trays, loads and operates dishwasher. Cleans pots, pans and cooking utensils as per procedure.
• Participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.
• Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, environment and infection control.
• Participates in facility meetings as assigned. Attends in-service education programs.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
