Job summary

Extendicare Hamilton is seeking a part-time Food Service Worker to join our culinary team at the Hamilton, Ontario home. You will assist with plating and serving meals, and help maintain clean serving areas in accordance with policy and safety standards.

Responsibilities include stocking dietary supplies, assisting cooks with basic prep, and adhering to infection control procedures. A current Food Handler's Certificate is preferred and enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program is acceptable.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program as required by the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Current Food Handler's Certificate.
  • Experience in LTC or healthcare food service preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate to heavy loads.

Responsibilities

  • Serve meals to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Assist Cooks with basic food prep and plating.
  • Clear plates, wash dishes, and maintain clean serving areas.
  • Stock and replenish dietary supplies and carts.
  • Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.

Extendicare offers rewarding and meaningful work where you can enrich your life and the lives of others.This position is for our Hamilton Home, located in Hamilton, Ontario.What you’ll be doingServes food to residents according to individual diets and preferences. Observes time limits for meal serving. Maintains foods at proper serving temperature.Assists Cooks to clean and prepare such uncooked food as salads, vegetables, and fruits. Follow basic instructions in preparing such simple foods as breakfast items, basic desserts, and garnishes.Clears plates and trays, loads, and operates dishwasher. Cleans pots, pans, and cooking utensils as per procedure.Participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, environment, and infection control.Assemble nourishment carts. Stocks unit kitchenettes.Participates in facility meetings as assigned. Attends in-service education programs.Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.What you bringSuccessful completion and/or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act required.
