Job summary

Extendicare Medex is seeking a part-time Dietary Aide to support meal service in the residence. You will help with setup, serving, tray delivery, and cleanup, while maintaining a clean dining and kitchen area.

You’ll also assist with catering and special events, and train new dietary staff. Requirements include a Food Handler's Certificate and either current training in Food Service Worker programs or enrollment.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
• Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
• Must possess or be enrolled in a Food Service Worker Training Program.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
• Assist in set up and preparation for service of beverages, salads, desserts, etc.
• Set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required.
• Assist with cleaning of dishware and cutlery at the end of each seating.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining area as required.
• Assist with catering and participate in special occasions and theme events.
• Assist in orientation and training of new dietary employees.
• Follow health and safety legislation and department procedures.
• Attend in-service training and staff meetings as required.
• Participate in Quality Improvement program and work with vulnerable adults.
• Uphold Extendicare’s Code of Conduct and organization values.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
