Job summary

AgeCare in Canada is seeking a Dietary Aide to assist in the preparation and serving of meals, while ensuring that dining areas and workspaces remain clean and safe.

You will serve meals to residents and guests, help with setup and tray delivery, assist with cleaning of dishware and dining areas, and support catering for special occasions. A Food Handler's Certificate is required, with preference for experience in senior care.

Qualifications

• Must have or be enrolled in a Food Handler's Certificate program.
• Experience in food service, preferably with seniors, is a plus.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
• Assist in set up and prep for service of meals and beverages.
• Set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required.
• Assist with cleaning of dishware and dining area after seating.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas.

Opportunity

The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals and ensuring that work areas are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition.

What You Will Do

• To serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
• To assist in the set up and preparation for service of various items such as beverages, salads, desserts, etc.
• To set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required.
• To assist with cleaning of dishware, cutlery at the conclusion of each seating as required.
• To assist with maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen and dining area as required.
• To assist with catering, and actively participate in special occasions and theme events.

What You Will Need

• Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Preference will be given to individuals who have previous experience in the food service industry and working with seniors.
• Must possess or be enrolled in Food Service Worker Training Program.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
• Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items, and stand/walk for majority of shift.
• Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
• Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a criminal background check) or willing to obtain one.
