Job summary

Extendicare St. Paul, Alberta is seeking a casual Dietary Aide to assist with food preparation and serving in a 76-bed long-term care facility. You will help cooks, stock the kitchen, and maintain cleanliness in dining and storage areas.

Responsibilities include serving meals according to residents' diets, recording temperatures, and adhering to safety and infection control policies. Availability for weekends, days, and evenings is required.

Qualifications

• Previous dietary experience preferred in LTC Home 0-1 year(s).
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to read and write English as well as to understand simple verbal and written instructions in English.
• Ability to work weekends, days, and evenings as per schedule.

Responsibilities

• Serves food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
• Observes time limits for meal serving.
• Assists Cooks to clean and prepare such uncooked food as salads, vegetables, and fruits.
• Reads and records food temperature and fridge temperature.
• Clears plates and trays, loads, and operates dishwasher.
• Cleans pots, pans, and cooking utensils as per procedure.
• Participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.
• Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, environment, and infection control.
• Receive and store food supplies on a weekly basis.
• Stock unit kitchenettes.
• Clean and organize the food storage room on a weekly basis according to schedule.
• Assemble nourishment carts.
• Participates in facility meetings as assigned. Attends in-service education programs.

Cleans eating, cooking, storage, and serving areas, as well as equipment. Follow established policies, procedures, and standards.RESPONSIBILITIES* Serves food to residents according to individual diets and preferences. Observes time limits for meal serving. Maintains foods at proper serving temperature.* Assists Cooks to clean and prepare such uncooked food as salads, vegetables, and fruits. Follow basic instructions in preparing such simple foods as breakfast items, basic desserts, and garnishes.* Reads and record food temperature and fridge temperature.* Clears plates and trays, loads, and operates dishwasher.
