General Purpose

The dietary aide assignments are determined based on the activity of the shift and the needs of the facility. He/she reports to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor.

Essential Duties
  • Learn food service routines quickly.
  • Set up meal trays.
  • Strip down returned trays and start washing dishes.
  • Assist with serving meals.
  • Check and record water temperature and chlorine concentration of dishwashing machine at the beginning of shift.
  • Observe water temperatures during dishwashing cycles.
  • Operate dishwasher.
  • Prepare nourishments and snacks.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors.
  • Handle trash and garbage.
  • Store groceries safely and neatly.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
  • Clean work surfaces and refrigerators.
  • Sweep, mop, and maintain floors.
  • Participate in orientation and ongoing training.
  • Work cooperatively with personnel across departments.
Supervisory Requirements

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts like fractions and ratios.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret instructions.
  • Must obtain and maintain a food handler's certificate.
Physical Demands

Requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Good visual perception is necessary.

Work Environment

Typically low to moderate noise level. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
