Hours: 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Dietary Aides may work in a variety of areas within Nutrition and Food Services including food preparation/production, dishroom and other ware washing, Link dining room, catering, and special cleaning. Details and expectations of each area are outlined in each specific work routine.
Applicants must be able to competently read, write, and understand English, and follow written and oral instructions in English. A current Certified Food Handlers Certificate is required. The successful applicant will, first and foremost, demonstrate accountability, initiative, and responsibility. Must be physically able to perform assigned duties in an environment of heat, moisture, strong detergents, and temperature fluctuations. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. Emphasis on cleanliness and safety that results in meeting residents', visitors', and staff expectations through quality food service and customer service. Must be tidy in appearance and have a high level of personal hygiene. Must be sympathetic to the needs of the resident and other customers. Position involves lifting, repetitive bending, stretching, moving, and standing for long periods of time. Positions involve working with chemicals and following WHMIS.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
