Job summary

Penske in Oshawa is hiring a Diesel Truck Technician/Mechanic II as part of a 3rd-5th Year Apprentice Program. Location: 850 Champlain Ave, Oshawa, ON. Pay: CAD 33-35 per hour, with 2nd and 3rd shift differentials of CAD 3 and CAD 4 respectively. Shift: Mon-Fri 2:30PM-11:00PM.

The role involves diagnosing and repairing engines, transmissions, brakes, HVAC, electrical systems, and performing preventive maintenance under supervision. Advancement opportunities and training are offered.

Qualifications

2+ years practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance.
Must be currently enrolled in an apprentice program.
Must maintain membership/registration with respective Government Agencies.
Will consider candidates with a 310S license or automotive background.
Proficiency in the use of shop tools.
Current driver's license class G or class 5 and ability to obtain class DZ within 6 months of hire.
Ability to work in non-climate controlled conditions.
Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential.
Willingness to travel within the district.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate proficiency in repair and diagnosis of engines, power train, transmissions, brakes, HVAC, and electrical systems with supervision as needed.
Perform mechanical and cosmetic reconditioning for trade-ins and new equipment.
Identify and order parts required for repair of disassembled units.
Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services.
Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair orders.
Maintain work area appearance and safety and road test vehicles when necessary.
