Job summary

Check Point Software in Ottawa is seeking a senior networking security engineer to provide enterprise-level support and technical guidance for Check Point products across customer environments.

Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and working with clients at engineer and management levels. The role requires 5-8 years in enterprise networking, VPN skills, Linux knowledge, and strong OSI understanding, with hybrid work two days in-office weekly.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of enterprise networking experience.
  • Experience with Check Point products.
  • Strong understanding of networking and OSI model on Layers 1-4.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting VPN technologies.
  • Basic UNIX Bash scripting skills.

  • Provide customers with technical support through analytical skills, facilitate new installations, implementations, maintenance, education, and author documentation in support of the customers’ environment.
  • Interfacing with clients at engineer and management level; multi-tasking in a close-knit team environment.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites in the US and Canada as needed.
  • Manage customer expectations and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain troubleshooting skills on Check Point products and related technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide customers with technical support through analytical skills, facilitate new installations, implementations, maintenance, education, and author documentation in support of the customers’ environment.
  • Business and technical communication skills are important for interfacing with clients, both at the engineer and management level. Working in a close‑knit team environment, as well as organizational ability for multi‑tasking and flexibility.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites in the US and Canada is required as needed.
  • Ensure management of customer expectations and resolution of technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain troubleshooting skills on all Check Point products and technical knowledge in industry standard based technologies.
Qualifications
  • 5-8 years of relevant enterprise level networking and Internet Security technology experience.
  • Experience with Check Point products required.
  • Strong understanding of networking and operating system functions of RHEL or other Linux based servers.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting VPN technologies.
  • Strong understanding of the OSI model on Layers 1-4.
  • Experience with traffic analyzing tools like Wireshark.
  • Understanding of how common TCP/UDP connections are established based on their protocol.
  • Working knowledge of ARP, VoIP (H.323, SIP), and routing protocols such as OSPF & BGP.
  • Basic programming skills, with the ability to read and develop simple UNIX shell scripts using Bash.
  • Experience providing support to direct customers, resellers, O&M, and field personnel in resolving company product related issues.
  • This position is posted in multiple territories and your ability to work without sponsorship from an employer now or in the future in the country for which you apply is required.
  • This is a hybrid work from home position that requires two days in the office per week, in locations where a Check Point office is present.
