Job summary

Alberta Health Services in Peace River is seeking a Diagnostic Sonographer I to perform ultrasound examinations, prepare patients, and capture diagnostic images to support accurate diagnoses.

You will work with Radiologists and other clinicians in a supportive team, with opportunities for professional development and flexible hours. A remote retention allowance is available with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

  • Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program.
  • Active or eligible for registration with ACMDTT.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Responsibilities

  • Perform standardized and complex ultrasound services for diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology.
  • Prepare patient for examination and review history, explain procedures, obtain diagnostic-quality images.
  • Assist Radiologists and other medical staff with special procedures as required.
  • Ensure patient care and safety at high standard.

This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description: As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.
