Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Diagnostic Sonographer I at South Health Campus in Calgary. You will perform standardized and complex ultrasound services, preparing patients, reviewing history, explaining procedures, and acquiring diagnostic quality images to support clinical decisions.

You will collaborate with Radiologists, Cardiologists and other staff, assist with procedures, and contribute to a safe, compassionate patient experience in a high-volume diagnostic imaging team.

Qualifications

  • Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for diagnosis and tracking of disease.
  • Prepare patients for examination and review history.
  • Explain procedures and obtain high-quality ultrasound images.
  • Take initial action to resolve abnormal findings and assist with diagnosis and patient management.
  • Assist Radiologists, Cardiologists and other staff with procedures as required.

Description

As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.
