Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Diagnostic Neurophysiology Technologist to join the Electroencephalography team at Richmond Hospital. You'll perform vital technical functions related to Diagnostic Neurophysiology, including running tests such as E.E.G. and EMG.

Qualifications

  • Graduation with a Diploma of Technology in Electroneurophysiology.
  • Two years recent related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Successful writing of the CBRET and BRET certification exams.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct various tests such as Electroencephalography (E.E.G.) and Nerve Conduction studies.
  • Record measurements and formulate technical reports for interpretation by medical staff.
  • Perform operating room monitoring procedures as required.

The salary range for this position is CAD $38.93/Hr. - CAD $48.59/Hr.

Job Summary

Within the context of a patient/client and family‑centric framework and continuum‑based care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision, values and policies of the organization, the Diagnostic Neurophysiology Technologist performs technical functions related to Diagnostic Neurophysiology. Duties include conducting various tests such as Electroencephalography (E.E.G.), Multiple Sleep Latency, Evoked Potentials, Nerve Conduction studies, Electromyography (E.M.G.) and Magnetic Evoked Potentials (M.E.P.), recording measurements, formulating technical reports for interpretation by medical staff in clinical diagnosis and performing operating room monitoring procedures, as required. Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Graduation with a Diploma of Technology in Electroneurophysiology.
  • Two (2) years’ recent, related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Successful writing of the Canadian Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic Technologists (CBRET) certification exam and the Board of Registration of Electromyography Technologists of Canada (BRETC) certification exam.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of evidence‑based Electroneurophysiology practice related to conducting various diagnostic tests including E.E.G., Multiple Sleep Latency, Evoked Potentials, Nerve Conduction studies, EMG, and M.E.P.
  • Broad knowledge of Electroneurophysiology theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.
  • Broad knowledge of safe work procedures with Electroneurophysiology equipment.
  • Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, leader, and facilitator.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach/demonstrate.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing in both one‑on‑one and in groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • Skill in the use of equipment, and in techniques appropriate to the assessment of clients.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
  • General knowledge of Trauma‑Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths‑based care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
