This employment opportunity is restricted to Nunavut Inuit who reside in Iqaluit only.
Reporting to the Manager, Diagnostic Imaging, the Diagnostic Imaging Clerk Scheduler (Scheduler) is the first point of contact for all new and existing patients. This position coordinates and communicates Ultrasound, Mammography, and CT appointments with patients, Emergency department, In-patient ward, Clinic, and communities across the Baffin Region. The incumbent will work closely with Ultrasound and CT Technologist to provide medical administrative duties and prepare patients for their scheduled examinations.
The Scheduler provides both internal and external communications and is required to be a team player and representative of quality patient care delivery. The position is responsible to use Meditech for patient look-up, accessing reports and scheduling appointments including entering examinations in Meditech upon patient’s arrival. The Scheduler will also look up patient’s previous exams in Picture Archival and Communication Systems (PACS) and scan documents into PACS for final review as well as work with PACS administrator to resolve PACS issues concerning Ultrasound, Mammography and CT. Other duties include providing assistance to technologists during examinations, such as providing oral contrast to patients for CT exams, and providing the Manager, Diagnostic Imaging, with the requisition of supplies necessary for the daily functions of Ultrasound, Mammography, and CT.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a minimum of Grade ten (10). The incumbent must have significant computer skills and software knowledge including Meditech experience. Direct patient care experience in a hospital or clinic setting is also required, along with experience in dealing with cross-cultural environments. Completion of a Medical Terminology course is an asset. This is a Highly Sensitive Position, and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check, is required.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English, and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
