Job summary

Canaccord Genuity Corp. is seeking a BI Developer to join our Canadian team. The role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting BI applications using Microsoft BI tools to deliver valuable business insights and performance metrics.

You will report to the Senior Manager of the Business Intelligence Team and collaborate closely with stakeholders to optimize reporting, analytics, and data governance across the organization.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with Microsoft BI Platform (SQL Server, PowerBI, SSRS).
• 4+ years of SQL/data manipulation and star schemas.
• Excellent understanding of DAX.
• Experience in a BI Development environment; business analysis preferred.
• Azure environments experience is a strong asset.
• Knowledge of BI in Finance/Investments is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance and support for BI production environments;
• Work outside normal hours when required to support BI processes;
• Answer inquiries regarding business logic in SSRS reports and PowerBI models;
• Troubleshoot issues in reports and data models;
• Create/modify SQL Server jobs and other database objects;
• Analyze, design, build and deliver SSRS and PowerBI reports;
• Evaluate BI applications usage and implement improvements;
• Ensure high-quality information is presented to the business.

BI Developer Position

Our Canadian operation, Canaccord Genuity Corp., is currently looking for a BI Developer to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Intelligence Team, this role will be responsible for the analysis, design, development and support of BI applications using Microsoft Business Intelligence tools. This role will provide highly valued client and business intelligence that drives the planning, management and measurement of our business.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance and support for BI production environments;
• Willing to work outside of normal business hours if required to support BI processes;
• Answer enquiries regarding business logic in SSRS reports, stored procedures, PowerBI models;
• Troubleshoot issues in reports, stored procedures, PowerBI models;
• Be able to create/modify SQL Server jobs and other database objects (views, stored procedures, triggers, etc.);
• Analyze, define, design, build and deliver dynamic and static reports in both SSRS and PowerBI;
• Continually examine how BI business applications are being utilized and recommend and implement improvements;
• Ensure only high-quality information is presented to the business community;

Skills & Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with knowledge of the Microsoft BI Platform (SQL Server, PowerBI, SSRS);
• 4+ years of experience with SQL/data manipulation, star schemas;
• Excellent understanding of DAX;
• 4+ years of experience in a BI Development environment, with Business Systems Analysis experience preferred;
• Experience in Azure environments (Lakehouse and Data Factory) would be a strong asset;
• Knowledge of implementing BI solutions with a specific focus on the Finance and Investments industries would be an asset;
• Strong documentation skills;
• Solid understanding of BI terminology and concepts;
• Strong business analysis, process mapping, business process redesign and implementation skills;
• Highly organized and detail oriented;
• Action oriented with excellent facilitation skills;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Analytical with the ability to grasp abstract concepts;
