Job summary

Room 8 Group, a leading external game development partner, seeks an experienced Dev QA Engineer to test PC, mobile and console games across the full software lifecycle. You will work in an Agile environment, using Unreal Engine, JIRA and TestRail to identify and reproduce bugs, analyze root causes, and collaborate with developers to deliver high‑quality titles.

Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of game mechanics, design principles and testing across PC, mobile and console.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum and end-to-end software development lifecycle.
  • Proficient with JIRA and TestRail for bug tracking and test management.
  • Familiar with Unreal Engine testing and Perforce or similar VCS.
  • Knowledge of console SDKs, platform compliance, and CI/CD for testing.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct manual testing of PC, console and mobile games, including functionality, usability, performance and regression testing.
  • Execute cross‑platform testing to ensure seamless gameplay on mobile, console and PC.
  • Review software requirements and provide feedback for improvements.
  • Collaborate with developers and producers to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Create and maintain Test Plans, Test Cases and Reports.
  • Identify, document and track bugs with clear reproduction steps.
  • Use Unity/Unreal editors for in-depth testing and bug reproduction.
  • Monitor performance, memory usage and frame rates with platform tools.
  • Perform API testing using Postman or JMeter and network testing to simulate real-world conditions.
  • Handle additional tasks as assigned by the direct manager.

We are looking for an experienced Dev QA Engineer with a solid understanding of game mechanics, design principles, and the full software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate has experience testing games across PC, mobile, and console platforms and is comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments. You should be proficient with tools such as Unreal Engine, JIRA, TestRail, and version control systems like Perforce, as well as familiar with network and performance testing tools. Experience with console SDKs, platform compliance requirements, and CI/CD processes is important. Strong analytical skills, particularly in identifying and investigating root causes of issues, are essential.

Superpowers you have:
  • Strong understanding of game mechanics and design principles;
  • Strong understanding of the development process, software life cycle and testing methodologies;
  • Testing Familiarity with Windows PC, Mac, Mobile, and Console platforms;
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum;
  • Experience with bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail);
  • Proficient in using Unreal Engine for testing purposes;
  • Proficient in Perforce or similar version control systems;
  • Experience using Charles, Fiddler or similar tools for analyzing network traffic;
  • Basic understanding of performance testing tools (e.g., PIX, Unreal Insights);
  • Experience in getting and reading logs on different platforms;
  • Experience with console-specific development tools and SDKs (e.g., PlayStation SDK, Xbox SDK);
  • Understanding of platform-specific requirements and submission processes. (TRC, XR, Mobile cert etc.);
  • Familiarity with CI/CD for testing purposes;
  • Experience in successfully passing compliance for any platform.
  • An ability to analyze the root cause of the issue

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation (including Test Plan, Test Cases, Reports etc.);
  • Identify, document, and track bugs with clear reproduction steps;
  • Utilize game editors (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine) for more in-depth testing and bug reproduction;
  • Employ platform-specific tools to monitor performance, memory usage, and frame rates;
  • Conduct API testing using Postman or JMeter and perform network testing to simulate and analyze real-world network conditions.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the direct manager if needed
