Job summary

Kingston Health Sciences Centre is seeking a Reg. Practical Nurse for Detox in Kingston, Ontario. The position is temporary part-time (about six months) with rotating shifts and a pay band of $35.91–$39.80 per hour.

The RPN provides withdrawal management and addiction care within a full scope of practice, ensuring safe, patient‑centred care. Working within the Detox Centre, you will collaborate with physicians, nurses and care teams, participate in quality improvement, and support families.

Qualifications

• Diploma Registered Practical Nurse program from a community college.
• Active registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario or eligible.
• Knowledge of CNO standards applicable to RPN scope of practice.
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
• Problem solving, conflict resolution and decision making abilities.
• Ability to function independently within scope of practice.
• Basic computer skills and ability to cope with a stressful environment.
• Proven reliability and regular attendance.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients within RPN scope.
• Prioritize patient care and modify plans as needed.
• Report changes in patient conditions and consult with NP/physician and team.
• Develop care plans and coordinate care to achieve goals.
• Teach and supervise unregulated care providers.
• Support discharge planning with patient/family and interdisciplinary team.
