Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada is seeking a senior engineer for the Deterministic Safety Analysis group in Mississauga. Based at our Sheridan Park office, you will independently evaluate and apply engineering methods to complex DSA tasks, requiring 8+ years of experience and a proven track record of high-quality engineering work.

You will perform design and development activities, assess heat and mass transfer, review vendor documentation, and work with codes such as CATHENA, TUF, GOTHIC and CFD.

• 3–5 years practical engineering experience.

Overview

This position is based out of our office in Sheridan Park, Mississauga, and reports to the Manager, Deterministic Safety Analysis. In this level, the employee is considered to be at the fully qualified working level with an overall high quality of engineering typical experience of 8 years or more.

Your role

Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications. Assignments have clear and specified objectives requiring investigation of a limited number of variables. Assignments normally include system and equipment design and development, design modification, investigation of design difficulties, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process study, cost estimating and preparation of reports, review of vendor's documentation, investigation of manufacturing and installation difficulties.

May be assigned project engineering responsibilities on a technical or commercial endeavour of moderate scope. Work is limited in scope and generally related to DSA analysis (heat and mass transfer), although a knowledge of related fields of engineering and an appreciation of the impact of the work on other areas may be required.

Knowledge of general system codes like CATHENA, TUF, GOTHIC, and CFD codes. Completed work is generally accepted as technically accurate and in compliance with policies and procedures and is reviewed for sound judgement and feasibility.

Work objectives are specific and supervision is usually general; the details of the work are not normally closely supervised but this may vary with the assignment. Technical guidance is available to review work programs and advise on unusual features of the assignment.

Supervision of other engineers is not a continuing responsibility at this level. However, the engineer's capabilities in this area may be tested at this level. May give technical guidance to Assistant Engineers I and II or support employees assigned on a common project.

Normally required to plan, schedule and manage own time, including taking into account the plans of others.

About you

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or honours Science Program from a recognized and/or eligible for membership in a provincial engineering association, plus three to five years practical experience.
